Neuromodulator injectables containing botulinum toxin type A are used to reduce and prevent fine lines on the face. There are various types of neuromodulators including Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin® and Jeuveau®. All neuromodulators contain the same active ingredient but vary in formulation. They help improve appearance and soften expressions by blocking nerve impulses to the muscles, causing them to relax. Commonly treated areas include forehead creases, space between the brows/frown lines, and wrinkles around the eyes/crow’s feet. They can also be used to rejuvenate the lower face. In addition, they can be used in the muscles of mastication to help reduce the tendency to clench or grind your teeth. Results typically last 3-4 months.
